The Community Answers: Have You Ever Paddled A Swim?
Each week, we ask the community a question. Recently, we asked the open water swimming community is they have ever paddled during a swim. During each Odyssey swims, from large Alcatraz swims to weekly Sunday Berkeley swims, safety kayakers and paddlers help escort swimmers to shore and assist with any necessary removals.
Here are the responses we received from the community on the official Odyssey Open Water Swimming Instagram page:
“Paddle support is the BEST way to see the bay!
We launched into a beautiful sunrise, paddled under the Golden Gate Bridge and had an easy relaxing paddle past the SF skyline. We were in constant radio contact, had support boats around us and got to help support our swimmers. Farther than I’d ever go alone!” -- @aatrick_oley
“Kayaking I have done, it's MUCH harder than swimming the event.” -- @saphre1964
“I’m a terrible paddler because I would rather be IN the water than ON the water.” -- @scardenasjr
