We’re On! Bridge to Bridge Swim Gets the Green Light with Changes
After working closely with officials and trying to get approval, we have been approved by the U.S. Coast Guard for the Bridge to Bridge Swim, which is full and all set for this upcoming Saturday. There are some modifications that have to be made to this year’s event. Changes include the following:
The swim will start from the beach at the far end of Crissy Field. The Bridge to Bridge swim usually begins by jumping from a boat under the Golden Gate Bridge.
The swim will finish with swimmers exiting at Pier 1 1/2, just north of the Bay Bridge.
Swimmers will not be on boats unless there is an emergency.
We will not be able to bring swimmers back to the starting location. Swimmers will need to provide their own transportation back.
The briefing the day of the swim is canceled. Instead, Odyssey will hold a Zoom briefing Thursday evening. Participants will be sent details shortly.
While this swim will be very similar to the Bridge to Bridge swims of the past, we understand that these changes might be problematic for some. These circumstances are not ideal, but we are making the most of this situation while keeping swimmers and others safe.
