Founded in 2013 by local athlete and swim coach Warren Wallace, Odyssey Open Water Swimming began as a quest to explore open water swimming in the East Bay. Warren’s passion quickly gathered others seeking the same experience, and Odyssey Open Water Swimming was born.

Odyssey is known for many public swims.

We’re a local company by swimmers, for swimmers, offering weekly pressure-free open water swims in Berkeley and unique events like Alcatraz swims, Bridge to Bridge, and more!

"I did the Alcatraz swim on June 29, 2024. It was very well organized and the event was well run. They provided a detailed briefing a couple of days before the swim and showed the recommended path which was reinforced several times before we started. Their knowledge of the currents and waves let us know exactly what to expect once you hit the water. During the swim, I felt safe with a kayak or boat always within a few meters of me. I have done a few open water swims before (mostly in lakes) but the water temp and the currents definitely made this a challenge. It was nice having a group guide you that knew what they were doing. Overall, it was a great experience. Highly Recommend."
