Event Updates

The dates of several upcoming events have changed, and impacted swimmers have been notified.

While changes to Odyssey events are extremely rare, all major events are subject to change due to our coordination with the Coast Guard, Odyssey safety team, and other events in the Bay.

Why the Change? 

Collaborating and cooperating with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) ensures proper coverage, clearance, and safety during swims. As stated on each event page, all dates are subject to change. While awaiting final approval for several events, we have been asked to reschedule three of our upcoming events. 

While official USCG approval comes a week before the swim, we receive the initial “go-ahead” months in advance. In the past decade, we have only had to move or cancel two of over 100 Alcatraz swims.

Impacted Swims 

All swimmers registered for the below swims have received credit for their registration or are scheduled for an upcoming swim. Events impacted by this change include: 

·  Golden Gate Swim (5/18) 

·  Odyssey Alcatraz (6/1) 

·  Odyssey Alcatraz (7/13) 

All other events remain as scheduled, and we do not expect further changes, although all dates are subject to change. 

New Dates

New scheduled swims include the following:

-          August 24 Odyssey Alcatraz Swim

-          October 12 Golden Gate Bridge Swim

-          Potential Additional Odyssey Alcatraz Swim (Date TBD)
