2023 Odyssey Rat Race Preview
The 2023 Odyssey Open Water Swimming event lineup is the biggest and most exciting in our company’s history. Thanks to the community’s support, we’ve been able to launch and grow events while taking your feedback and guidance to improve our offerings. After a large turnout for the first ever Odyssey Rat Race in 2022, the event is back!
What is the Odyssey Rat Race?
The Odyssey Rat Race is an annual event where participants swim around Rat Rock Island in the San Francisco Bay, which is located north of China Camp. In 2022, the inaugural Odyssey Rat Race featured 51 athletes. We are expecting an even larger turnout in 2023.
The Rat Race is a 3k race (1.86 miles). The course starts from McNears Beach, goes around a buoy, and then runs parallel to shore to Rat Rock Island. The race concludes with swimmers heading all the way back to McNears Beach.
When is the 2023 Odyssey Rat Race?
The 2023 Odyssey Rat Race will be held on September 23, 2023. Swimmers will meet at McNears Beach (201 Cantera Dr., San Rafael, CA, 94901) for the swim briefing and start of the race.
2023 Rat Race Updates
The 2023 Odyssey Rat Race will feature several updates, including a larger post-race event, snacks, and a formal timing process that will give all participants fast and accurate results.
Additional updates will be added closer to the event.
What is the Entry Fee for the 2023 Odyssey Rat Race?
The 2023 Odyssey Rat Race entry fee is just $55. The entry fee includes:
Official race T-shirt
Silicone Odyssey swim cap
A photographer will be at the event to take pictures from the beach of participants. Swimmers will also receive their official race time.
How to Register for the Odyssey Rat Race
Registration for the 2023 Odyssey Rat Race is now open, and can be completed through the Odyssey website and TeamUp registration page here.
