Previewing the Odyssey Bay Bridge Swim: Interview with Eric See

“It just gives you such a different viewpoint than other Bay swimming.” -- Eric See

“I loved swimming under the bridge, that was really fun,” says open water swimmer Eric See. The Odyssey team recently spoke with Eric See to get his thoughts on the Bay Bridge Swim.

Asked why Eric joined Odyssey Open Water Swimming for the 2021 Bay Bridge Swim, Eric said, “I was looking for a different swim than the Alcatraz one (which I had already done before) but with about the same distance.” The Bay Bridge swim is approximately 1.5 miles, just under the 2-mile distance of the Odyssey Alcatraz swim.

Asked, “why should other open water swimmers experience the Bay Bridge Swim,” Eric says:

“...It's an absolutely unique experience to swim under a major bridge like the Bay Bridge. You will be blown away by the grandeur of it. Like swimming in an outdoor cathedral. The added bonus is tracking progress with the struts of the bridge.  Lastly, you probably drive over the bay bridge quite often. Every time afterwards you (will) think about swimming underneath it.”

The 2022 Odyssey Bay Bridge Swim will take place on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Registration is just $145 for the event, and includes an event t-shirt and yellow silicone swim cap. Registration is now open for the event, and there is space to accommodate a large group of swimmers. Learn more about the event and register here
