The OWS Community Answers “Why Do You Do It?”
Each week, we ask the open water swimming community a question. These questions range from serious to silly. This series is called the “Ask the Community” series. Posts where we share answers from the community, such as this post, are called “The Community Answers.”
Recently, we asked the community “Why do you do it?” The “it” is of course open water swimming, and the reasons why, as you’ll see below, vary.
“Better views than the pool. Plus no chlorine smell on my skin.” - Eric S.
“Because I love sharks...” - Laurent M.
“Because all the pools have been closed and this was the next best thing.” - Elise C.
“For me, the preferences are reversed! I swim at the pool if I can’t make it out to the ocean. ” - Andrew T.
“Swimming in open water helps me feel connected to nature and alive in my body. It lights up my soul and feels playful!” - Paige L.
Swim, wall, Swim, wall Swim, wall, Swim, wall Swim, wall, Swim, wall Swim, wall, Swim, wall Swim, wall, Swim, wall Swim, wall, Swim, wall Freedom - Gary W.
“Because I love it!” - Suzanne M.
