Are you ready to experience the ultimate Bay Area open water swim? If you don’t know already what we’re referencing, we’re talking about an Odyssey Alcatraz swim!

Each year, Odyssey Open Water Swimming hosts just 2-3 Alcatraz swims. These events begin just outside of Alcatraz Island and end back in San Francisco at the St. Francis Yacht Club. You will travel with a group of friendly and excited swimmers on a small boat, and jump into the Bay to begin a swim you’ll never forget. The 2-mile adventure is a favorite among swimmers and safe. While we encourage relatively strong swimmers to join, participants are heavily supported by kayakers and coaches who will guide you back to shore.

Whether you’re looking for an amazing experience or training for the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, the Odyssey Alcatraz swim will not disappoint. If you can swim this distance in a pool (140 lengths of a 25-yard pool), you should be able to conquer the Alcatraz swim.

Swims are $135 per event or $385 if you register for all three together. There is a $50 late registration fee if registering within one month of the event, so sign up soon!

Need training? Each week, Odyssey hosts Berkeley swims that range from .5-2 miles. Join us for $20 or less at the Berkeley Marina. Learn more and sign up for a weekly swim here.
